Tender Years will be CLOSED on Tuesday, December 25th for Christmas and Tuesday, January 1st for New Year’s. Have a safe and wonderful holiday. There will be a sign up sheet in the office for Monday, December 24th and Monday December 31st. Please make sure that you indicate if your child will or will not be here that day so we can staff accordingly. We are also requesting that EVERY parent fill out a schedule for December 26, 27, and 28th. We want to be sure that we staff accordingly and give teachers the day off if possible. The sign up sheet and calendars are already in the office. Please have your schedules all completed and turned in by December 17th. Thank you!

Santa Claus is coming to Tender Years! He will be here on Tuesday, December 11th at 9:30 AM. If you would like your child to meet Santa, make sure they are here by 9:00 AM.

Christmas Open House

We are trying something new this year! We are having a Christmas Open House at Tender Years. The open house will be from 5:30 – 6:30 PM. During this time, there will be a special project for you and your child to create together. Your child’s teacher will also have completed art work to send home with you. The last 15 minutes of the open house your child’s class will perform a holiday production that they have been practicing. We want to encourage all parents to attend and take this time to meet with your child’s teacher free from the distractions that come each day so you can talk and have a parent/teacher conference. In order to provide the maximum amount of parking, different age groups will be scheduled on different dates.

Photo ID Reminder

Please make sure that you or whoever is picking up your child always has photo ID with them. Although you may have been attending Tender Years for quite awhile, we have new employees that may have not met you and they have been strictly trained to not release any children to someone they do not know. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping your children safe.

“Food” for Thought

Tender Years is in partnership with the Utah Child Food Program. Therefore, we take the health and nutrition of all of our children very seriously. Our weekly menus are always posted in front of each classroom for you to review. Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions. Often, parents will send a treat to school for a special occasion which is always welcome and appreciated. We would also like to encourage parents to send non-food items sometimes instead of treats. Some examples are pencils, erasers, stickers, rings, coloring pictures, etc. While at our school, all of our children participate in exercise and gross motor development three times a day every day. If you would like some information on how you can get your kids “moving” more at home please visit the following websites for creative and fun ideas; http://depts.washington.edu/tvhealth/resources_family.htm and http://www.fns.usda.gov/eatsmartplayhardhealthylifestyle/PlayHard/makefamilytimeanactivetime.htm.

Infants, Waddlers, & Toddlers

We can’t believe how fast our babies are growing. A handful have begun walking! This month we are talking about colors and shapes, winter weather, and singing and dancing! Please come to our Christmas Open House on Dec. 11th. We will be having a Christmas party on Thursday, December 20th. Don’t forget to take your baby’s blanket home at least once a week to be washed, this is VERY important during the sick season to cut down on germs. It is really important for our babies to go outside and take advantage of this wonderful weather. Please make sure your baby wear shoes and a warm coat for outside and gym play. Please check your baby’s extra change of clothes to make sure they have everything they need and that it is weather appropriate. And of course, don’t forget to check our diaper board regularly. Happy Birthday Hailey! Thank you!

Please bring in a picture of your child for their coat hook if I do not have one already. Thank you for letting me care for your wonderful children!

3 YEAR OLDS

Miss Alyssa – Please come to our open house on Wednesday Dec. 19th. I would love to take the time to get to know you better and we have some fun things planned. Our class will be having a holiday party on Friday, December 21st. If you would like to send a treat please make sure it is store bought. Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for the weather, has a warm coat everyday, and a warm change of clothes in their cubbie. Please keep toys from home at home unless it is Friday Show-and-Tell. Toys from home create conflict and distraction.

PRE – KINDERGARTEN

December is a busy month for us. Please come to our open house on Wednesday, Dec. 19th. I would love to take the time to chat with you and our class is excited to perform. This month we are talking a lot about the holidays and what they mean and how different children and countries celebrate them. We will be working on letters K-L and lots of review of all the letters we have learned so far. Our numbers this month are 30-40. Thank you for your support!

KINDERGARTEN

We could not be happier with this year’s Kindergarten class. It is a group of extremely talented, smart, and loving children that we enjoy every day. Please come to our Open House on Monday December 10th. Miss Melissa is very anxious to meet and get to know our parents better. This month our Kindergarteners are working on letters K-L and reviewing letters A-L. We are also focusing on numbers 30-40. Be sure to take a look at our amazing art work posted in the hallway.

SCHOOL AGE

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and thank you for all your support. Homework club is going great. Please let teachers know if you have any special requests. All of our unclaimed clothes are in the red room. Please check for any of your items because everything will be sent to the DI in a few weeks. Please try to keep football and baseball cards at home unless it’s Friday. The are very easily lost and create distractions. Please be sure to label ALL your child’s items. We are always taking donations of slightly used books. We are in specific need of any English/Chinese dictionaries or Spanish/English dictionaries. Thank you for your support.
