January 2013 Newsletter

By June 18, 2013 No Comments

We are excited to move into another year! Thank you for spending 2012 with Tender Years and we are very much looking forward to 2013!

We would like to thank all those who participated in the aid of our client family who recently lost their child Anna Bowen. Whether your help was offered through words, comfort, prayer, or donations it made a huge impact on this family during this time. They have asked us to send their deepest thank you to everyone for your loving and generous hearts.

All of our classes are back to their regular schedules. We had a lot of activities and parties during the holiday season and now it is time to buckle down again and focus on each age groups goals for the year. The second half of December included a lot of review of the year’s curriculum and starting on Monday our classes are working on new material. If you ever have questions please feel free to ask your child’s teacher.

Looking ahead into this month, we have Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday January 21st. Tender Years will be open but please make sure to inform us by Friday if your child will or will not be here so we can schedule teachers accordingly. Please make sure that all your child’s coats and snow accessories have their first and last name on them. February will be here before we know it and I know that teachers will be planning Valentine’s parties and will be looking for shoe boxes to make Valentine Boxes with so please hang on to any you could donate.

Cultural Awareness

January and February are Cultural Awareness months at Tender Years. We believe it is very important to teach children our differences as well as our similarities. We would love your assistance in this. We are asking parents who are willing and able to come and teach us about their culture. We would like to set up assemblies (preferably in the morning) so the children can come and hear different parents speak to them about their culture. Please let the office or your child’s teacher know if this is something you would be able to do. If you have a family member that would be perfect for this we are extending the invitation to them as well. Thank you for your help in educating these children in diversity.
