Important Sign Ups: Summer Camp and School Transportation

Our Summer Camp sign ups are filling up very fast. The list is posted in the hallway. Be sure to sign up soon if you haven’t yet. Your packets will be ready this month. Miss Judy has some great stuff planned for the summer. We have also posted the school transportation list for next year. It is posted in the hall with all the schools we transport to. Be sure to sign your child up so we can plan for their transportation for the 2013-2014 school year.

“Food” for Thought

Tender Years is in partnership with the Utah Child Food Program. Therefore, we take the health and nutrition of all of our children very seriously. Our weekly menus are always posted in front of each classroom for you to review. Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions. Often, parents will send a treat to school for a special occasion which is always welcome and appreciated. We would also like to encourage parents to send non-food items sometimes instead of treats. Some examples are pencils, erasers, stickers, rings, coloring pictures, etc. While at our school, all of our children participate in exercise and gross motor development three times a day every day. If you would like some information on how you can get your kids “moving” more at home please visit the following websites for creative and fun ideas; http://depts.washington.edu/tvhealth/resources_family.htm and http://www.fns.usda.gov/eatsmartplayhardhealthylifestyle/PlayHard/makefamilytimeanactivetime.htm.

From the Classrooms

Infants, Waddlers, & Toddlers

Our babies are growing up so fast and accomplishing new milestones everyday! It is also getting close to sunscreen season. Please bring in a labeled bottle of your preferred brand. If we don’t have one, please be sure to send a family picture that we can put on display for your baby. They love to look at pictures of their family. This month our youngest babies are working on self help skills. Our Waddlers and Toddlers are discussing colors and shapes. If you have any extra empty wipe boxes please donate them to our class. Don’t forget to take your baby’s blanket home at least once a week to be washed, this is VERY important to cut down on germs. Please check your baby’s extra change of clothes to make sure they have everything they need and that it is weather appropriate. And of course, don’t forget to check our diaper board regularly. Thank you!

2 YEAR OLDS

Miss Nicolle –

On May 23rd we will be having a Circus Party. We will be making a special treat and playing circus games. This month we will be talking a lot about our families. Please bring in a family photo that we can use for a special project. It is time for sunscreen. Please bring in a labeled bottle of your preferred brand. There are many children without extra clothes in their cubbie. If your child doesn’t have any spare clothes please bring some in ASAP and make sure it is weather appropriate! We will be going outside very regularly so please make sure your child dresses appropriately with a labeled jacket. Please donate your unwanted child friendly magazines, we need them for art projects! Thank You! Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful moms. We appreciate you and love working together for your child.

Please bring in a bottle of your preferred brand with your child’s name written on it. Please be sure that your child has a weather appropriate change of clothes in their cubbie and a jacket/coat everyday. Please also check your child’s art folder, they are getting very full. The folders are located on the back wall with their names on them. Please donate any child friendly magazines you have, we would like to make some collages. Happy Mother’s Day to all you amazing moms! We hope to see you at Muffins with Mom.

3 YEAR OLDS

Miss Erin –

This month we will be working hard on numbers 1-20 and putting our alphabet books into binders. We will have a Cinco De Mayo party on Friday May 3rd. We will be having treats and making chips! If your child would like to bring something to share please make sure that it is store bought. Summer is arriving, make sure that we have a sunscreen and lotion release form as well as a bottle of your preferred brand. Please only let your child bring one blanket. We can only fit one in their cubbie. Please make sure each night to check your child’s cubbie and be sure that they have everything they need. Every Friday during our Circle Time at 9:30 we will have Show-and Tell. Please keep toys from home at home. We don’t want children to lose them. Please be sure to check your child’s art folder daily and notices on our door.

PRE – KINDERGARTEN

This month we will be reviewing all of our alphabet and working a lot on our phonics. We are cutting our naps down to only 1-2 days a week to prepare these kids for Kindergarten. In July we will stop doing naps. It’s getting hot! Please bring in a bottle of your preferred sunscreen with your child’s name on it. If you have any old t-shirts you don’t want we would love to use them as paint shirts. Happy Mother’s Day on the 12th. Please join us for Muffins with Mom on the 10th. Thank you for your support and please let me know if I can do anything for you or your child.

KINDERGARTEN

Our class has mastered addition, subtraction, and word problems! We will be moving on this month to money. We will be discussing the value of each coin and bill and counting them. Please label ALL your belongings with your child’s first and last name. Please also make sure that everything you are taking home belongs to your child. Be sure to switch out your child’s spare clothes with weather appropriate ones. The sign up sheets for Summer Camp are in the hall and filling up very quickly. Be sure to reserve your spot. Our school LOVES books and would appreciate any donations of books you no longer want. Happy Birthday Abby on the 5th, Hanna on the 16th, and Miss JUDY!!
