November 2012 Newsletter

By June 18, 2013 No Comments

We had such an exciting month in October filled with activities, parties, field trips, and fun! We are heading into the wonderful holiday season and will have many more exciting things planned for your children.

Tender Years will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 22nd for Thanksgiving. Have a safe and wonderful holiday. There will be a sign up sheet in the office for Friday, November 23rd. Please make sure that you indicate if your child will or will not be here that day so we can staff accordingly.

We will be updating the carpet in our Kindergarten classroom. The new carpet will have extra padding underneath to soften the floor. Installation will be the middle of this month.

Halloween Parade

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Halloween parade and parties a success. We love seeing the children dressed up and hope that you had a fantastic night. If you have any unwanted Halloween costumes we would love to have them for our dress up bins. Enjoy the pictures below of our great day!

Pictures

Our pictures will be arriving this month. You will have the opportunity to view a packet full of pictures of your child. You DO NOT have to purchase any pictures. If you would like to buy some or all your pictures your packet will have a paper describing all your pricing and how to pay for your pictures. Parents are allowed to take the packet home to look it over, however, it is very important that you return the pictures that you don’t want. Otherwise, the picture company will charge you for the pictures. Please refer to the office if you have any questions.

“Food” for Thought

Tender Years is in partnership with the Utah Child Food Program. Therefore, we take the health and nutrition of all of our children very seriously. Our weekly menus are always posted in front of each classroom for you to review. Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions. Often, parents will send a treat to school for a special occasion which is always welcome and appreciated. We would also like to encourage parents to send non-food items sometimes instead of treats. Some examples are pencils, erasers, stickers, rings, coloring pictures, etc. While at our school, all of our children participate in exercise and gross motor development three times a day every day. If you would like some information on how you can get your kids “moving” more at home please visit the following websites for creative and fun ideas; http://depts.washington.edu/tvhealth/resources_family.htm and http://www.fns.usda.gov/eatsmartplayhardhealthylifestyle/PlayHard/makefamilytimeanactivetime.htm.

From the Classrooms

Infants, Waddlers, & Toddlers

Happy Thanksgiving! We are grateful for the opportunity to help raise your beautiful babies. Our babies are talking about Autumn colors, talking about weather changes, and enjoying art, music, and play time! If we do not have a family picture from you please bring one in that we can keep here and put on display for your baby to look at. It does not have to be a professional picture. We always love having them look at their family and talking about them. Don’t forget to take your baby’s blanket home at least once a week to be washed. It is really important for our babies to go outside and take advantage of this wonderful weather. Please make sure your baby wear shoes and a jacket for outside and gym play. Please check your baby’s extra change of clothes to make sure they have everything they need and that it is weather appropriate. And of course, don’t forget to check our diaper board regularly. Thank you!

2 YEAR OLDS

Miss Nicolle – This month our kids will be learning how to make a pumpkin pie and working on colors! We are having a Mother Goose party on Nov. 30th. A lot of children are missing extra clothes in their cubbie. Please make sure there is at least one full change of clothes and a blanket every day. Please be sure to wash your child’s blanket at least once a week. We are going outside twice a day for play and exercise. Please make sure that your child has a jacket that is labeled. If you do not want your child’s Halloween costume after Halloween we would love to have it for our dress up box! Potty Training Tip: Let your child pick out their own underwear at the store.

Miss Ruth – Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! We will have Hat Day on Nov. 8th and Pajama Day on Nov. 13th. This month we will be practicing colors, and our monthly letter and number goals. We will be talking about what it means to be thankful. Please make sure your child has a full change of clothes in their cubbie that is warm. It is important that your child has a coat with their first and last name labeled in it. The dry season is upon us so please bring in some lotion and be sure to fill out a lotion release form.

3 YEAR OLDS

Miss Alyssa – Welcome Miss Alyssa to our Preschool class. Miss Alyssa has extensive experience with preschool and we are thrilled to have her be a part of our team. This month our class will be discussing things we are thankful for and creating “Thankful For” crafts. Our classroom goals for this month are to get to know each other well and build good relationships and establish an understanding of good choices/consequences and poor choices/consequences. We are also working on keeping our hands to ourselves. Please talk with your child at home about what this looks and feels like. Remember to dress your child appropriate for the weather and send a coat to school that is labeled with a first and last name.

PRE – KINDERGARTEN

I am so thankful for the opportunity to love and educate your children. This month we are excited to read poetry, discuss what it means to be thankful, and practice rhyming. This month we are working on the sounds and spellings of letters A-F, and counting and writing numbers 20-30. If you could send a pencil with your child it would be very helpful. Please donate any extra child friendly magazines that you have. Thank you for your support!

KINDERGARTEN

we are very grateful this month for our Kindergarteners. They are such a fun group that is very eager to learn. This month we have a lot of letter review and new vocabulary words associated with the upcoming holiday. Miss Melissa is new to our room and the children have already fallen in love with her. She is incredible with them and we are so excited to have her. Our Kindergarten room is in need of some new books. We will be purchasing some soon but would LOVE donations as well. Thank you!

SCHOOL AGE

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and thank you for all your support. Homework club is going great. Please let teachers know if you have any special requests. If your child is off track and working on any packets let us know so we can work on them. If your child is missing a coat/jacket please check our classroom because we have many unclaimed items hanging on our hooks. Please be sure to label ALL your child’s items. We are always taking donations of slightly used books. We are in specific need of any English/Chinese dictionaries or Spanish/English dictionaries. Thank you for your support.
