Doughnuts with Dad

It is time for us to celebrate our spectacular Dads! To honor you and show how much we appreciate you please come and enjoy breakfast with your child. On Friday, June 14th we will provide breakfast in the gym from 5:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Plan to come a little early so you can enjoy some food and time with your child. If Dad can’t make it, anyone is welcome to come in his place (Grandpa, Uncle, Mom, etc).

Muffins with Mom

Muffins with Mom was a huge success. Below are some pics.

Kona Ice

The very popular Kona Ice Day is back for the summer! For those of you who are new, Kona Ice is a special day where a big truck comes to the center and the children get to build their own snow cone. It is a big favorite and always anticipated by the kids. Our first day will be June 21st at 10:00 AM. Every child that is here will get a snow cone and a $1.00 charge will be added to your account.

School Transportation

We have posted the school transportation list for next year in the hallway. All the schools we transport to are listed. Be sure to sign your child up so we can plan for their transportation and reserve their spot for the 2013-2014 school year.

“Food” for Thought

Tender Years is in partnership with the Utah Child Food Program. Therefore, we take the health and nutrition of all of our children very seriously. Our weekly menus are always posted in front of each classroom for you to review. Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions. Often, parents will send a treat to school for a special occasion which is always welcome and appreciated. We would also like to encourage parents to send non-food items sometimes instead of treats. Some examples are pencils, erasers, stickers, rings, coloring pictures, etc. While at our school, all of our children participate in exercise and gross motor development three times a day every day. If you would like some information on how you can get your kids “moving” more at home please visit the following websites for creative and fun ideas; http://depts.washington.edu/tvhealth/resources_family.htm and http://www.fns.usda.gov/eatsmartplayhardhealthylifestyle/PlayHard/makefamilytimeanactivetime.htm.

From the Classrooms

Infants, Waddlers, & Toddlers

Our young babies are working on crawling and holding bottles. Our Toddlers are working on using their manners by using please, thank you, sorry, etc. Parents, if you have any extra diaper containers that you are going to throw away please donate them to our baby room. If we do not have sunscreen for your child please bring it in immediately. Just a few reminders of some of our policies: Please make sure your baby has eaten when you drop them off so they don’t come hungry. Please label ALL of your items with your child’s full name. And finally, please change your child’s diaper in the morning before you bring them. Don’t forget to take your baby’s blanket home at least once a week to be washed, this is VERY important to cut down on germs. Please check your baby’s extra change of clothes to make sure they have everything they need and that it is weather appropriate. And of course, don’t forget to check our diaper board regularly. Thank you!

We will be reviewing all of our alphabet letters and counting objects in the room. If we do not have sunscreen for your child yet please bring in a bottle of your preferred brand with your child’s name written on it. Please be sure that your child has a weather appropriate change of clothes in their cubbie. Please also check your child’s art folder, they are getting very full. The folders are located on the back wall with their names on them. Please donate any child friendly magazines you have, we would like to make some collages. 3 YEAR OLDS

Miss Erin –

This month we will be discussing Flag Day on June 14th, the first day of summer on June21st, and Father’s Day on June 16th. We are working on a very special Father’s Day project. Please donate any old or unwanted ties ASAP for our project! We are also working on learning our phone numbers. Please make sure we have some sunscreen and lotion release form as well as a bottle of your preferred brand. Remember to take blankets home on Fridays to be washed and please only one blanket here. Please make sure each night to check your child’s cubbie and be sure that they have everything they need. Every Friday during our Circle Time at 9:30 we will have Show-and Tell. Please keep toys from home at home. We don’t want children to lose them. Please be sure to check your child’s art folder daily and notices on our door.

PRE – KINDERGARTEN

This month we will be reviewing all of our alphabet and working a lot on our phonics. We are currently only taking naps 1-2 days a week. This will be our last month of napping because in July we will stop doing naps. It’s hot! If we do not have any sunscreen please bring in a bottle of your preferred brand with your child’s name on it ASAP. If you have any old t-shirts you don’t want we would love to use them as paint shirts. Happy Father’s Day on the 16th. Please join us for Doughnuts with Dad on the 14th. Thank you for your support and please let me know if I can do anything for you or your child.

SUMMER CAMP

Summer Camp begins June 10th! All packets must be returned and be sure to go through the rules WITH your child. Your child needs to bring a backpack every day with a change of clothes, water bottle, sunscreen, and a towel on Tuesdays for the water park. Socks and sneakers are required for field trips. The only time we allow flip flops will be on Tuesdays at the water park. We will sunscreen the children every morning and afternoon before each field trip. However, it would really help if you could send your child to us already sunscreened. Electronic devices are only allowed on Fridays. Please remember that all games must be rated “E”. Please label all games and devices and remind your children to take good care of these things. Please no iPads. They are just too expensive of an item for us to try and keep safe. Please let Judy or Morgan know if you have any questions. We are looking forward to a fantastic summer!

SCHOOL AGE

There is a sign up in the hallway for the 2013-2014 School Year. We will still be doing homework club for the children who are still in school so be sure that your child has the materials they need to complete their assignments. Please be sure to label ALL your child’s items and make sure when you go home at night that everything you are taking belongs to your child. We are always taking donations of slightly used books. We are in specific need of any English/Chinese dictionaries or Spanish/English dictionaries. Thank you for your support.
